Under the hood of your Subaru is a special horizontally-opposed Subaru boxer engine. In order for that engine to run properly, it needs oil, and it needs for the oil to be regularly changed. Engine oil keeps all your engine parts lubricated, and carries away any heat your engine generates. An engine with fresh oil operates at peak performance, and gives a more comfortable drive.

As time goes by, your engine oil starts to break down. While fresh oil keeps your engine healthy, over time the oil becomes less and less effective at its job. If too much time passes, the oil can break down into a thick sludge, clogging up parts of your engine. It is important to change your oil before that can happen. Oil change intervals vary depending on what you drive, and how you drive it, but a good rule of thumb is to change your oil either every six months, or every 5,000 miles, whichever comes first.
