The 2019 Subaru Ascent is a midsize SUV. This vehicle has plenty of room for both passengers and cargo with seating for seven or eight, depending on the model. This is also a tech-savvy vehicle with plenty of great interior features. You get a lot of safety features standard on the Base model and there are some additional safety features added to higher trim levels.

When it comes to performance, each trim option is found with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. This engine produces 260-horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. It is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission. You also get all-wheel drive with every trim option in the 2019 Ascent.

The Subaru Ascent was an all-new model for the 2019 model year. It is a great choice for giving you a slightly more affordable option as it is a few years older, but it does have much of the latest technology and features. Check out all the different trim options below to see which one is best for your next vehicle upgrade.

In the base model of the Subaru Ascent, you have seating for eight people on cloth upholstery. This vehicle has a six-way manually adjustable driver's seat and a four-way manually adjustable passenger's seat. There is also tri-zone climate control for added passenger comfort. In terms of technology, this model has standard Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, remote keyless entry, satellite radio, four USB ports, and a 6.5-inch infotainment system.

You also get a lot of safety features standard. This vehicle comes with the standard EyeSight safety package. This safety package includes forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and lane keep assist.

On the exterior, you have 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels for a solid performance. You also get raised roof rails for additional cargo capability. This base model also has all-wheel drive with active torque vectoring and X-mode with hill descent control to give you that added performance.

The second trim option for the 2019 Ascent is the Premium trim. This option can be found in both seven seat and eight seat options. Both options are found with heated front seats. The Premium model does upgrade you to an 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat, as well as spill-resistant cloth upholstery. You also get a leather-wrapped steering wheel in this model.

In terms of technology, the Premium trim upgrades the infotainment system to an 8-inch touchscreen, and you also get a Wi-Fi hotspot for extra technological capabilities. This model also adds blind spot monitoring to its list of safety technologies.

On the exterior, this model adds body-color side mirrors and privacy glass. You also get a 5,000-pound towing capacity with the Premium model.

You do have one available package option with this trim. The All-Weather Package adds features like heated exterior mirrors, 3-mode heated front seats, and a windshield wiper de-icer for taking on those cold conditions.

The next trim is the Ascent Limited. This Limited trim is also offered in seven or eight seat layouts. However, this trim upgrades you to leather upholstery. You also get heated second-row seats and a heated steering wheel. For the front row of seating, you have a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat with two-position memory, as well as a four-way power-adjustable passenger's seat. You get proximity keyless entry for ease of access to your vehicle and additional USB ports on the inside, as well as a 6.3-inch LCD multifunction display.

In terms of safety technology, this vehicle adds automatic high-beam headlights and reverse automatic emergency braking. You also have an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

The exterior of this vehicle also adds adaptive LED headlights, LED fog lights, and 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. For ease of loading and unloading your vehicle, there is a power liftgate with height memory functions.

The highest-level trim on the 2019 Ascent is the Touring trim. The Touring is only found in the seven-seat layout with front and second row captain's chairs. You also get ventilated front seats, a panoramic moonroof, and ambient interior lighting in your Touring trim.

In terms of technology, this trim adds a navigation system, a 120-volt power outlet, a smart rearview mirror, and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system. You also add some safety features with a front-view camera and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

Which trim is right for you?

Each trim level for the Subaru Ascent gives you a capable engine option and all-wheel drive, so you don't have to take the specific performance into account when choosing a trim level. Also, the 2019 Subaru Ascent has some great safety technology standard on all models with the EyeSight suite of safety features.

However, you will want to think about which technology features and interior features are most important to you when you are deciding which trim to choose. If there are features that are a must for you, make sure the trim you are looking into has the features you want.

The base model offers you a lot with plenty of standard safety and a nice interior, so if affordability is your main concern, you can't go wrong with the Base trim. However, if you are looking for something with second-row captain's chairs, you have to at least upgrade to the premium trim. If you are wanting more luxury interior touches, the Limited or Touring trim is the right one for you. For example, the Touring trim has heated front and second row seats, as well as ventilated front seats, leather upholstery, and a heated, leather-wrapped  steering wheel. The Limited and Touring trim also add a few additional safety features like High beam assist and rain-sensing windshield wipers, respectively.
