Subaru Forester Model Research

The Subaru Forester is a versatile, AWD compact SUV is an affordable crossover that is perfect to take off the beaten path.  The Forester offers lots of room for both passengers and cargo, and it's great for camping or going to and from the grocery store. With all-wheel drive and 182 horsepower, the Forester can handle it all.

The Subaru Forester offers a 2.5 liter four-cylinder engine, and you can even tow up to 1,500 pounds with it. While not eye-popping, it can go from 0-60 in 8.0 seconds, which isn't horrible for an SUV. Since it's not massive and has a four-cylinder engine, gas mileage is still decent and much better than a larger SUV.

The cabin of the Forester offers a good driving position and visibility and is free of frills. The back seat is very comfortable, and there's lots of space. Full-gown adults should have no problem, even on a long road trip. With the back seat folded, you can help friends move or take the Forester on a nice camping trip. 

Like most Subaru's the Forester comes with plenty of tech. With the Base, Premium and Sport models, you get a 6.5-inch display. The Limited and Touring models offer an 8.0-inch unit as standard. Two USB ports are also provided as standard, and you can opt for two more USB ports for the rear seats, so those sitting in the back can charge their devices with ease.

Subaru goes out of their way to provide lots of standard features when it comes to safety and security. With the Forester, you'll get standard automated emergency braking, standard lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist and standard adaptive cruise control. The Subaru Forester does well in crash-tests with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Trim Levels

The 2024 Subaru Forester comes in six trims, which are:

  • Base
  • Premium
  • Sport
  • Limited
  • Wilderness
  • Touring

The Limited and Touring trims are fancy, but the Premium model offers the best value and features. With the Premium model, you get 17-inch wheels and a rear spoiler. If you want ground clearance, consider the Wilderness, as it gives you an impressive 9.2 inch, which is a half an inch more than the other Forester trims.

Subaru Forester vs. The Competition

The compact SUV market is a crowded one, and others who want to shop around may look at the Honda CR-V, the Nissan Rogue, the Toyota RAV4 and even the Subaru Outback. Those who ware looking for a more traditional SUV often go for the RAV4 or the CR-V, but the Forester is great for those who want it all in one package.
