2021 Subaru Crosstrek

The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek is an exciting compact SUV that offers a comfortable ride and plenty of advanced features. Though Subaru has long been developing vehicles for outdoor lovers, the Crosstrek is designed to take options to the next level. The SUV was Subaru's most powerful yet when it came out, giving drivers the opportunity to explore in new places and go on new adventures.

Granite Subaru is proud to offer the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek among its high-quality previously owned inventory. We carry a variety of models so you can choose from the best configurations that the model has to offer. We also carry other model years.

Here's a closer look at what the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek has to offer:

 Exterior Styling

The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek is a compact SUV, so it has a smaller profile with an efficient design. Some even compare the Crosstrek to a large hatchback. The swooping profile lines match those you'll see on a hatchback, but the rear is not as extended as a hatchback, and there is a higher roofline for roomier seating.

The styling for the Crosstrek doesn't try to match its contemporaries in the compact market, with contouring lines and pulled headlights. Nor does it try to compete with its more practical counterparts, with clunky geometric lines and oversized features. It strikes a balance for more tailored style, with neat lines and sparing but well-placed details.

The exterior came in eight colors, with some fun options outside the standard neutrals, such as Horizon Blue Pearl and Plasma Yellow Pearl. Black details provided contrast through, such as the wheel well cladding, roof rails, rear spoiler, and front and rear fender accents. Roof rails were standard with the base trim level.

The Crosstrek also came with 18-inch machine-finished wheels that not only looked great, but also provided superior performance over a range of terrain types. Fog lights were standard starting with the Premium trim level, and a moonroof became available starting with the Premium trim.

Interior Styling

The interior of the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek reflects the same styling sensibility as the exterior. Inside the Crosstrek, you'll find attractive styling that hugs the line between practicality and comfort.

Soft-touch materials are used throughout the interior, providing comfortable seating and a nice look. Top-stitching and detailed fabric panels create a more tailored look for the upholstery, rather than the bland bench seating you see in a lot of rugged models. Seating also has an ergonomic design for improved comfort, whether you're on your daily commute or a longer road trip. The upholstery and interior are all black with yellow contrast stitching.

The upholstery uses StarTex water-repellent fabric, which makes it easy to clean, even if you have been off-roading and are tracking mud and water inside.

The dash has a stylish design with a clean layout. A large display screen for the infotainment system is positioned at the center, flanked by the vents. A head's up display sits above that, showing information about the drive and the vehicle. Controls are mounted on the steering wheel for convenience, and those on the console are located for easy access.

Cargo Space

While there is plenty of room for passengers to be comfortable in the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek, there is also plenty of space for whatever cargo you would need to haul on longer road trips or on weekend adventures.

The cargo area has an impressive 20.8 cubic feet of space. If you need more, the rear seats fold down, expanding the area to 55.3 cubic feet. If you're on a family trip and need those rear seats for passengers, you can get the additional space with the standard raised roof rails. Luggage and other gear can be securely fastened to the roof rails, opening up space inside the SUV.

Power and Performance

The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek was advertised as the most powerful Crosstrek yet. The base level Crosstrek came with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that put out 152 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. The engine was paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable automatic transmission. The same engine and transmission options were included on the Crosstrek Premium trim.

A more powerful 2.5-liter direct-injection boxer engine was offered on the Sport and Limited trims for the 2021 Crosstrek. Subaru's boxer engine is one in which the cylinders are placed horizontally, rather than vertically, which improves handling by giving the engine a lower center of gravity. This engine on the Crosstrek model produced 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque. A continuously variable automatic transmission was the only option offered for this engine.

The Crosstrek came with a traditional, symmetrical all-wheel drive system when ordered with the six-speed manual transmission. The system was upgraded with the CVT, offering features like X-mode with hill descent control for safer driving in uncertain conditions.

Both engines provide the power and performance for a spirited ride, even over rocky terrain. The base engine got an estimated 28 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway, while the larger engine got 27 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. A hybrid version was also offered that improved fuel efficiency.

Comfort and Convenience Features

The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek came with a slew of features that made driving more comfortable and fun.

The base model trim came with standard features such as a tilt and telescopic steering column with mounted controls for ease of handling and access to other features, automatic climate control to create a comfortable environment, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for music streaming and app integration.

The infotainment system on the base model Crosstrek was powered by Subaru's StarLink, which was controlled by a 6.5-inch touch screen display. The system included Bluetooth streaming, a USB port for charging and streaming, and a four-speaker stereo system.

As you move up the trim levels on the 2021 Crosstrek, you will gain access to many additional features. On the Premium, Sport and Limited models, you get remote engine start with climate control, allowing you to get the vehicle ready before you climb in on cold mornings.

Starting with the Premium model, you get interior upgrades like a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter knob and heated front seats. Leather-trimmed upholstery was introduced on the Limited trim level. The Limited trim level also introduced a lot of upgrades for the infotainment system, including an 8-inch touchscreen display and a Harman Kardon premium audio system.

Additional options were available through options packages and add-ons, such as built-in navigation, a wi-fi hot spot, additional USB ports for charging devices, satellite radio, and a heated steering wheel.

Even if you are looking at the base model 2021 Subaru Crosstrek, without having been specially configured, you will be able to enjoy plenty of great comfort and convenience features that will enhance your driving experience.

Safety Features

When you're looking at a vehicle that's designed for going into uncertain terrain, you want to be sure that you've got a safe vehicle. Otherwise, you could easily spin out or get stuck in unfavorable places. The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek came with many safety features that give drivers peace of mind, no matter where they may choose to roam.

Every model of the 2021 Crosstrek came with Subaru EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, which includes pre-collision braking and advanced adaptive cruise control with lane centering.

The Crosstrek Limited also came with rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, blind spot detection, and a lane keeping system that automatically adjusts position to keep the vehicle centered.

Other trim levels could attain some of the more advanced safety features through options packages. Available safety features also included adaptive headlights and automatic high-beam headlights.

The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration gave the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek an overall safety rating of five stars. The SUV also scored five stars on the NHTSA's side crash test and four stars on its frontal crash test and rollover test.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded the 2021 Crosstrek a rating of Good in all of its crash tests. "Good" is the highest rating that the IIHS awards. It also named models that included crash prevention systems and the LED headlights as Top Safety Picks.

Overall, the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek has ranked as one of the safest vehicles on the market, and it is backed by a variety of driver-assistance features that reduce the risk of accidents.
