2024 Subaru Impreza
Now in its sixth generation, the Subaru Impreza is back for the 2024 model year with an all-new look and plenty of exciting changes. The sporty hatchback offers a unique blend of luxury styling with impressive off-road performance, creating a driving experience that is comfortable, fun, and exciting. The 2024 model introduces some advanced features and some new styling, giving Impreza fans even more to love.Â
Here's a closer look at the changes and everything you can to see in the 2024 Subaru Impreza:Â
Exterior Styling
One of the most notable changes for the 2024 Subaru Impreza is that it is only available as a hatchback. In the past, the Impreza has been compared often to the Subaru WRX, with which it also shared body panels. Subaru has made big moves to distinguish the two vehicles, and among them was making the WRX an exclusive sedan and the Impreza an exclusive hatchback.Â
Besides that, the 2024 Impreza also has a more aerodynamic roofline - which shaves off a fraction of the cargo space in the rear but enhances the efficiency of the vehicle. The Impreza has a sleek design that embodies a spirit of adventure without sacrificing style. Grooves and details are seen throughout the body, which combines angular and rounded features for a unique look. You'll feel comfortable showing up in your best driving the 2024 Impreza, but you won't feel too fancy if you want to explore off the beaten trail on the weekends.
Standard roof crossbar mounting points make it easy for you to load up gear for road trips or weekend adventures.Â
Power and Performance
The base model 2024 Subaru Impreza comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder direct-injection BOXER engine that puts out 152 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. The only other engine option comes with the RS trim level. It's a 2.5-liter BOXER engine that puts out 182 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. All trim levels come with a lineartronic continuously variable transmission. The manual transmission that was previously offered on the Impreza has been dropped. However, the CVT does come with an 8-speed manual mode on the Sport and RS trims. The model is managed through paddle shifters on the steering wheel, and there are eight, pre-set ratios.Â
The 2024 Impreza has a number of features that enhance performance. It has an updated version of the dual-pinion electric power steering rack that was previously offered on the Subaru WRX. It results in more responsiveness and a more natural feel when steering.Â
The platform on the new Impreza has 10 percent higher torsional rigidity, which makes for a smoother ride and better performance.Â
All-wheel drive is standard on all trim levels on the 2024 Impreza. Subaru has also updated the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system so that it responds more quickly and it can corner better. The Impreza rides on 18-inch alloy wheels, and it has a sport-tuned suspension.Â
Interior Styling
The 2024 Subaru Impreza looks just as good on the inside as it does on the outside. Ergonomic seating is reinforced with comfortable padding and covered in rich cloth. Subaru has improved the overall seat design for enhanced comfort and support. The dash and panels are covered with high quality-looking materials and beautiful accent material. The cabin is designed to minimize sound for a more peaceful ride.Â
The dash has a large infotainment display that includes the touchscreen, flanked by vertical vents, and sitting atop a console storage area and the shifter knob. Climate controls sit below the infotainment controls.
Updated features are added in the interior at each trim level, such as gunmetal and simulated carbon fiber trim pieces, as well as block cloth upholstery with red contrast stitching in the RS. The trim level also gets a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, as well as aluminum pedals.Â
The panels along the rear seats feature contours that flow straight into the cargo area. The door sill trim also has a mountain motif that helps to improve grip when someone is standing on them to load up the roof racks. The pattern is also on the sill of the cargo area. The rear seats have a 60/40 split, which makes it easier to access the cargo area, while also strategically expanding storage space.Â
Overall, the interior is both stylish and practical, designed to look and feel good while also offering maximum functionality.Â
Convenience Features and Technology
Plenty of great convenience features and technology are included on the base model 2024 Subaru Impreza. One of the upgrades for this model year is a larger infotainment screen. The new Impreza comes with an 11.6-inch vertical center screen with a beautiful color display. Previously, the largest infotainment screen was 8 inches, so this is a big upgrade. Wireless streaming through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is standard, and many other features are available on the higher trim levels.Â
Other standard features include power door locks and windows, remote keyless access, welcome lighting, and power side mirrors. The upgraded climate control system is also fine-tuned to focus power on seats that are currently occupied, ensuring optimal comfort for all passengers. Dual-zone climate control is standard across all trim levels.
Safety Features
Subaru is known for its impressive lineup of safety features, and the 2024 Impreza features the best of what the car maker offers.Â
All models of the new Impreza come with Subaru's EyeSight Driver Assist Technology. The system for the 2024 model includes enhancements like a new safety control software and an electric brake booster. Safety features that come with the system include a rear seat reminder, pedestrian and cyclist recognition, pre-collision braking, and automatic emergency steering.
On the higher trim levels, additional features are added, such as blind-spot detection, lane keep assistance, and rear cross-traffic alert. An available Safety and Security Connected Services package adds emergency assistance, enhanced roadside assistance, and stolen vehicle recovery service. There are three cameras on the safety system, and they include a wider field of vision, offering more assistance to drivers.
Like many of its predecessors, the 2024 Subaru Impreza is expected to receive top safety ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).Â
Trim Levels
One of the major changes for the Subaru Impreza for the 2024 model year was the removal of several trim levels for a more focused offering. The Impreza comes in a lean three trim levels: The base, the Sport, and the RS.Â
The Sport comes with many upgrades that enhance its styling, performance, and comfort. The mid-level trim is where drivers first see the larger infotainment screen, and it comes with the Starlink multimedia system that includes Bluetooth for hands-free calling and music streaming, SiriusXM radio, and HD radio. The Sport also comes with push button start and large fog lights. Other features include remote horn and lights, remote vehicle locator, and a valet mode.
At the top of the Impreza lineup is the RS trim level. It has a performance focus, and it includes the more powerful engine and other performance upgrades as mentioned above. The RS also has special styling to distinguish it from the other trim levels, including special badging on the front doors and rear hatch and black side mirrors, 18-inch alloy wheels in a dark gray finish, and rocker panel molding (instead of body color, like the other trim levels). It also has a black grille and upgraded LED headlights and fog lights.Â
Inside, the RS trim level gets upgraded with an optional 10-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system. The driver's seat also gets 10 points of power adjustment, including lumbar support, and a power moonroof is added. USB-A and USB-C ports are featured in the front and back rows, giving everyone the chance to charge their devices. The RS also gets all the available safety features.Â
