Overview

The Subaru Impreza is now its sixth generation, with production starting in 1992 . This latest generation was revealed to the US market in November 2023, and sales of the new 2024 model Subaru Imprezas started in spring 2023.

With the discontinuation of the sedan body style and manual transmissions, this sixth generation is now only available as a hatchback fitted with Subaru's Lineartronic continuously variable transmission (CVT.)

The 2024 Subaru Impreza Sport model makes use of the 2.0 Liter Dual Overhead Cam (DOHC) flat four-cylinder Boxer engine carried over from the prior generation. This tried and tested power unit produces 152 horsepower @ 6,000 rpm and 145 lb-ft of torque @ 4,000 rpm.

Body and Chassis 

The sixth generation Subaru Impreza is based on the outgoing model. However, this new model sees improved body construction with torsional rigidity improved by ten percent through the use of higher-strength steel. 

Improvement of the steering feel and safe handling is looked after with the addition of a dual-pinion steering rack taken from the performance-orientated Impreza WRX. Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) helps improve the ease of steering to prevent driver fatigue.

At the rear, a single-speed rear window wiper with fixed intermittent mode does duty.
