2024 Impreza Gets Highest Safety Award From IIHS

Subaru is no stranger to winning safety awards, especially regarding the IIHS. This year, the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) released new safety ratings for the upcoming 2024 Subaru Impreza, showing significant improvements in side protection and headlight ratings.

Because of these improvements and upgrades, we're happy to say the 2024 Impreza joins the list of top-rated vehicles rated for safety by the IIHS, even securing the prestigious Top Safety Pick+ honor.

We'll dive into this more below, so stay tuned!

Top Safety Pick+ Rating for the 2024 Impreza

Exciting news for drivers: The 2024 Impreza emerges as the top scorer, securing the coveted Top Safety Pick+ designation - the highest recognition from the IIHS. This accolade is partially due to Impreza's outstanding performance in an updated side test, which received a good rating for passenger safety and security.

Although Impreza has always been safe, the IIHS has not given it a Top Safety Pick+ honor for a few years, with the newest generation regaining the prestigious title.

The IIHS uses a table to determine what each test gives a vehicle, with these being the scorings:

  • G - Good
  • A - Acceptable
  • M - Marginal
  • P - Poor

You also have a battery-looking icon that shows 1/3-3/3 filled green, indicating either a test resulted in Superior, Advanced, or Basic scoring. For the 2024 Subaru Impreza, this four-door wagon saw "G" across the board and fully green "Superior" symbols for its safety testing.

2024 Subaru Impreza Test Results

Following the IIHS safety scoring for Impreza, the four-door's overall safety put it ahead of many other Subaru and non-Subaru models, with perfect G scores for the following categories:

  • Crashworthiness
  • Crash avoidance & mitigation
  • Seat belts & child restraints

These tests included crash tests from each location inside the vehicle, with passenger and driver safety being incredibly high.

Moreover, IIHS listed Impreza's additional safety features as bonuses to those on the road: Optional blind spot detection, Standard lane departure warning, and Standard lane departure prevention.

The IIHS also notes that the Impreza is now only available as a wagon, with the sedan no longer being made.
