According to the study the features reduce serious rear-end accidents that cause injury by 85%. Meanwhile, Japan's Institute for Traffic Accident Research and Data Analysis (ITARDA) shows that vehicles with this technology have an accident rate of just 0.06 percent.
With improvements coming to the already extremely beneficial technologies we can expect the rate of accidents to drop even further when the new AI-based EyeSight technologies find their way onto vehicles.
Is Subaru EyeSight About Autonomous Driving?

Currently, Subaru director of Subaru Lab, Eiji Shibata, states that safety is their top priority, not autonomous driving. While that doesn't necessarily rule out autonomous driving in the future, it doesn't seem like it's their top priority right now.
